Vox again avoids posing with the banner of Les Corts that denounces sexist violence

The minute of silence called this Friday at the door of the Corts Valencianes to condemn the crime of Alzira has once again highlighted Vox's discourse against sexist violence. Both the president of parliament, Llanos Massó, and her deputies, have remained on the sidelines of the banner that was carried by deputies from PSPV, PP and Compromís.

It is the second time that the gesture has been repeated since the PP and Vox came to the Valencian government, since last July in a minute of silence of the same meaning, the Vox deputies also withdrew. At that time the sentence was due to the murder of a 38-year-old woman in Antella at the hands of her husband, who stabbed the victim in the presence of one of her children.

The presidency of Les Corts had called a minute of silence "to condemn the murder of a woman at the hands of her husband" in Alzira, but not to condemn a case of sexist violence, as the PSPV-PSOE has reproached it, which has accused to the president of the Chamber of breaching the Pact against gender violence.

As justification, the Vox parliamentary group on the social network "X" (formerly Twitter) has explained that its deputies have participated in the minute of silence, "but not behind the banner because VOX always condemns all kinds of violence: against women men, old people, children...".

The Compromís parliamentary group has also criticized the position of the president. The deputy Verònica Ruiz has affirmed that Compromís will present an initiative for the Corts to disapprove Llanos Massó for what they have called a "sectarian attitude". Likewise, they hope that the PP, government partner of the far-right party in the Comunitat, will vote in favor of this initiative.

During the last legislature, the first in which Vox was represented in the Valencian Parliament, this group always stood aside in the rallies called by the institution every time a sexist murder occurred, maintaining that they condemn "all kinds of violence".

At this Friday's rally, the rest of the Les Corts Roundtable, deputies from the parliamentary groups and the institution's staff have positioned themselves behind the usual banner with the motto "Les Corts against masclista violence" (Les Corts against violence against women), while Vox has stayed on one side.

Meanwhile, the Council had called another silent gathering at 12 noon outside the Palau de la Generalitat, in which both the Minister of Agriculture, José Luis Aguirre, and the First Vice President and Minister of Culture, Vicente Barrera, both participated. of Vox. In this case there was no banner.

In her subsequent statements, the Second Vice President of the Valencian Government and Minister for Equality, Susana Camarero, has asked women who suffer sexist violence and their entourage to report and request help, because, as she has assured, "there is hope outside of violence" and there are "ways out of it".

The vice president explained that the Consell condemns "roundly" and "deeply" the latest sexist murder that occurred in the Valencian Community, and has expressed the "zero tolerance" of the Valencian Executive "in the face of this violence that continues to end the lives of many women " . "We are going to do everything possible, we are going to put all the means and all the tools at the disposal of the victims to eradicate this social scourge," said Camarero, who has assured that the Valencian Government is next to Raquel's family, to whom he wants to convey his "solidarity, affection and support", and his friends.
