Valencia chooses its Falleras Mayors for the Fallas of 2024

The Fallas exercise begins now in full force with the appointment of the Falleras Mayores de València. Those chosen are Marina García Arribas, from the Manuel de Falla - Tamarindos commission, the new Fallera Mayor Infantil de València 2024 and M.ª Estela Arlandis Ferrando from the Fallas Bisbe Jaume Pérez – Lluís Oliag, the new Fallera Mayor de València for the Fallas 2023 -2024.

The new Fallera Mayor Infantil is 11 years old and is studying sixth grade at the CEIP Lloma del Mas. The little girl is, according to the Fallera Central Board, a lifeguard for the SOS Bétera rescue and lifesaving club. The Fallera Mayor, M.ª Estela Arlandis, is 22 years old and is studying her last year of Law at the Catholic University of Valencia. She declares her love for gastronomy and travel, especially to Paraguay where her partner resides.

The mayor of València, María José Catalá, announced this Tuesday the name of the Falleras Mayores, who will be proclaimed tomorrow, Wednesday, starting at 7 p.m. in an extraordinary plenary session of the Central Fallera Board (JCF) that will be held in the Hall of City Hall glass.

Catalá has read the minutes of the jury in charge of electing the major falleras in an extraordinary assembly of falla presidents, accompanied by the Councilor for Festivals and Traditions and president of the Central Fallera Board, Santiago Ballester.

Immediately afterwards, the mayor called the new Falleras Mayores by phone to inform them of her appointment, first of all to the children's Fallera Mayor of València, and then to the Fallera Mayor, the call with which the new Fallas exercise begins.

Marina García responded to the call crying and in the middle of a great uproar inside the house of her falla, that of Manuel de Falla-Tamarindos, and she was barely able to respond with emotional monosyllables to Catalá's congratulations, after which she gave the Thanks to the jury for having chosen it.

For her part, M.ª Estela Arlandis responded with "oh my god, I'm freaking out!" to the mayor's call and she has not stopped crying during the few minutes of the conversation. After the event in the chamber, the mayor went to the houses of both Fallas to congratulate in person those who, starting tomorrow, will be the highest representatives of the most international Valencian festival, declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
