Ukraine denounces the attack on a civilian evacuation boat with at least three dead

The Ukrainian authorities today denounced an attack against a civilian evacuation boat from the flooded areas caused by the explosion of the Kajovka dam, with at least three deaths and ten injuries.

Among the fatalities is a 74-year-old man who tried to protect a woman with his body, reported the Kherson regional governor, Oleksandr Prokudin, through his Telegram account, according to the Ukrinform portal.

The denunciation of this attack occurs when the water level began to drop in the flooded territories after the explosion of that dam, on the night of Monday to Tuesday, forcing thousands of people to leave their homes.

The water level in the Kakhovka dam has dropped by another meter in the last 24 hours to 9.35 meters in the Nikopol area, according to information from the Ukrainian hydroelectric company Ukrhidroenergo.

The flow of water loss is decreasing, although the situation continues to be complex and the evolution difficult to foresee, points out that body, as reflected by the Ukrinform portal.

Ukrainian authorities reported on June 6 the blasting of the dam of the 240-kilometer-long Kajovka hydroelectric power plant, triggering flooding in parts of Jerson and Mykolaiv regions.

The situation is especially worrying with regard to the Zaporinya nuclear plant, the largest in Europe, as the level of the dam required for its cooling has dropped drastically.
