Two people lose their lives in separate accidents on the Girona road network

Two people have lost their lives in the last few hours in separate traffic accidents on the Girona district road network. The victims are a 59-year-old French citizen who was aboard a van and a 66-year-old resident of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, who was driving a motorcycle.

The first of the accidents took place last night on the N-II highway, near Agullana (Alt Empordà). For reasons that are being investigated, a truck and van collided at kilometer point 771.5 of the N-II, near Agullana in the direction of Girona.

The driver and sole occupant of the van, a 59-year-old man of French nationality, died.

The other accident occurred this afternoon on the road that connects Castell d'Aro and Sant Pol, in Castell-Platja d'Aro (Baix Empordà). A passenger car and a motorcycle were involved in a head-on collision.

As a result of the accident, the motorcyclist, a 66-year-old man and resident of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, died. The accident forced the road, GIV-6621, to be cut in both directions of travel.

So far this year, a total of ten people have lost their lives in traffic accidents on the interurban road network in Catalonia, according to provisional data from the Catalan Traffic Service (SCT).
