Two other tourists who fled to France after the group rape in Magaluf have been arrested

The Civil Guard has arrested two young people who fled to France after participating in a group rape in Magaluf, in Mallorca. As of this Monday, another six tourists had already been arrested, so that finally eight have been detained in a complex operation that has required the collaboration of international police services. They were not all part of the same group, but they added to the aggression by encouraging each other. The young tourist had to be treated in a hospital after the brutal attack.

These last two detainees have been located in different municipalities in France. After the arrest of the first six participants, the Civil Guard continued the investigations and managed to identify the other two attackers. The agents discovered that they had taken a flight to Baden-Baden airport (Germany) to return to their area of residence, in the French department of Strasbourg.

The Civil Guard requested the collaboration of the French authorities, so the judge issued two European Arrest Orders (OED), to prevent them from fleeing from justice. The French National Gendarmerie reported on Sunday the arrest of one of them in the French town of Scherwiller. At mid-morning, the second was arrested at the Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg airport (France), when he was preparing to catch a flight to Turkey with the intention of avoiding police action.

With these two arrests, the Civil Guard has closed an investigation that has been very complicated due to the diversity of the attackers, who were not part of a single group. The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 14. As soon as the attack became known, Civil Guard agents mobilized to locate and arrest the attackers.

Specialists in sexual crimes accompanied the victim at all times and transferred her to the Son Espases hospital, in Palma, where she was assisted by the health workers and the coroner. She later accompanied her to the Court to present the complaint. The first six detainees are in the Palma jail in provisional detention without bail.

Since June 1 of this year, the Civil Guard Zone has implemented a Judicial Police team specialized in crimes of a sexual nature in the Calvià area. The actions of this team, in coordination with the Civil Guard of Calvià, have allowed the arrest of all those involved in this brutal attack. The collaboration of the French gendarmes and the Italian carabinieri who are in service in the Balearic Islands during Operation Summer has also been decisive.
