Twitter will introduce the 'X Dating' function to find a partner

Twitter is preparing for a radical transformation. It was advanced this weekend by Elon Musk, who acquired the platform more than a year ago for just over $40 billion and since then has done nothing but lose employees, advertisers and income. The company is worth less than half of what Musk paid for it today,

The goal that the tycoon set from the first moment was to convert Twitter, now called X, into a "super app" that covered a wide range of services, in the style of the Chinese 'multi-application' WeChat. The plan involves offering all types of information, communication and commerce products and services from the same platform, which would lead it to compete with applications as diverse as TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, FaceTime, Amazon, banking apps... or Tinder. And the next step that Musk plans to take is to revolutionize the online dating sector.

Elon Musk has made clear his vision for the immediate future of X in an internal meeting to which The Verge has had access. Both company owner and CEO Linda Yaccarino are clear that Twitter needs to go beyond simply being a “digital town square” and expand to encompass a broader spectrum of features and services. This transformation is an ongoing process that aims to make Twitter a comprehensive platform.

The introduction of the 'X Dating' service is one of the strategic topics that leaders have exposed to their employees. Although Musk has not confirmed the official launch date of this feature, he has mentioned that it is on the way and could change the dynamics of online dating. The idea is that Twitter becomes a place where users can find a partner or even a job easily, quickly and effectively.

In addition to the dating features, Twitter has also introduced Premium plans in Spain, including a 'Basic plan' and a 'Premium plan'. These plans offer exclusive features like enhanced short replies, message editing, and posting longer texts. The 'Premium plan' stands out by not showing ads in certain areas and providing access to creator tools.

The transformation of Twitter into a "super app" is an ambitious step in the world of social networks and mobile applications. Elon Musk has expressed his confidence in this vision and has highlighted the speed with which Twitter is innovating in its evolution towards 'X'. However, this process is not without challenges, such as the loss of advertisers and the need to make the business profitable.
