Twenty affected, six evacuated to hospital, in the fire of a house in Seville

Complicated morning in the province of Seville due to several fires in some homes that have caused around twenty people to need medical attention, six of them having to be evacuated to the hospital.

One of the incidents occurred on the first floor of a four-story building on Constantina Street in Seville, in the Northern District of the city, at around 3:20 a.m. This has been the most complicated to manage due to the number of people who have been affected by smoke inhalation.

The second fire occurred in the town of Camas, in Aljarafe, Seville, where firefighters decided to evacuate all the residents of a building as a preventive measure.

Ten people affected by smoke inhalation, six of them (four minors) had to be taken to the hospital for treatment while the rest were assisted by Health Emergency personnel in the same place, and one dog died inside the hospital. living place. This is the balance sheet of the fire that started this morning in the living room of a three-story house on Constantita Street.

As reported by 112, it was 3:20 a.m. when they began to receive calls from some citizens alerting them to the event, some even warning that there were people trapped in the house.

The coordinating room immediately informed the Seville Firefighters, the National and Local Police, the Health Emergency Center (CES) 061 and the Cecop.

Although we must wait for the investigation to determine the reasons for the incident, the first hypotheses suggest that a short circuit occurred in an extension cord near a sofa and the flames spread from the living room to the rest of the rooms.

But this extreme does not agree with María del Carmen, the tenant of the burned home, which has been left in a "total disaster", and who had to run "with just what she was wearing" with her husband, her 14-year-old son and a dog to save himself from the flames. According to her story, except for her refrigerator, she always turns off "all" the appliances and devices in her home before going to bed. "I don't know how it happened," she shrugged.

What he does know is that he realized that there were flames in the living room because his son had asked him to accompany him to the bathroom. "My husband got up running and shouting that there was a fire. We threw buckets and bottles of water but (the fire) was getting worse," said this woman, explaining that this family has not been able to "save anything" from their home having escaped. of the flames "with what is on", in his words. Thus, María del Carmen has lamented the loss of "clothes, blankets, sheets, money" and even the keys to her car, which she cannot use at the moment as she lacks them.

Likewise, while the City Council states that it has offered social assistance to this family, given that their home was left uninhabitable, refusing them as they have family resources according to the Consistory, this woman has stated that her family cannot "stay in the street", especially when there are two minors.

María del Carmen, on the other hand, has pointed out that the firefighters took a long time to go to the house, something that has been denied by the mayor of the city of Seville, José Luis Sanz, who has defended the actions of the firefighters in the face of the fire, a disgrace. that I could have been fatter."

According to the mayor, the family in the burned apartment "left the door open" when leaving it, causing "everything to become a chimney" as the flames and smoke spread.

In that sense, while the female tenant of the house accused the firefighters of having "taken a long time" to respond to the fire, the mayor has defended the work of the troops, who are "great professionals who give their all to their work," as he said.

On the other hand, a little earlier, around 1:50 a.m., another house fire occurred on Huelva Street, in the town of Camas.

In this case, it was a fire in a flat that led to the preventive evacuation of the entire block, although the fire was located on a second floor.

The coordinating room, after receiving the citizen notices, activated the Provincial Council's firefighters, the National and Local Police and the health services, who have confirmed the attendance of two people at the same place of the event.
