Tomás de Sarrià, Magnificent Hotelier Award

Yesterday, the emblematic bar El Tomás de Sarrià received the Magnificent Hotelier Award, awarded for the first time by Cervezas San Miguel, within the framework of the third edition of the 'Magnificent Cities' initiative. The establishment, famous for its bravas, has been recognized for its charisma and its commitment to local products, and for being a benchmark in local gastronomy.

The initiative aims to encourage the residents of different cities to passionately live its proposals and enjoy new experiences, to value gastronomy, leisure and local talent. In Barcelona it will take place until July 2.

At the presentation of the project yesterday at the Fundació Joan Miró, the first Magnificent Hotelier prize was awarded, an award whose objective is to recognize and promote the figure of the hotelier. The award-winning restaurateur in each city is chosen for his charisma, his commitment and his commitment to local products, and for being a true benchmark in the gastronomy of the city in question.

In the case of Barcelona, the award went to Toni Betorz and his son, owners of the mythical bar El Tomás de Sarrià, one of the most popular venues in Barcelona. Its bravas are especially known, which attract locals and visitors. The award was presented to him by the Catalan chef Jordi Cruz.

Located since 1929 in the heart of the emblematic Sarrià neighbourhood, the Tomás bar is one of those corners that still exudes the atmosphere of yesteryear, with traditional cuisine and tapas cooked over low heat.

Another novelty this year is the Magnificent Plate Route, in which consumers can enjoy dishes inspired by the essence of the city. Around 60 Barcelona establishments have joined the initiative and will compete for their dish to be the winner of the popular vote.
