Together and ERC reach an agreement to govern the Catalan Association of Municipalities

Together for Catalonia and Esquerra Republicana have agreed to govern the Catalan Association of Municipalities (ACM) together, after the result of the municipal elections of 28-M when both formations obtained a sum of more than 700 mayoralties in Catalonia.

The agreement provides that it is Junts who proposes the person who assumes the presidency of the ACM and ERC will propose the vice presidency, according to a statement from Junts, which indicates that the pact "represents a clear commitment to municipalism on the part of both parties."

Junts and ERC have highlighted "the consolidation of the ACM as a benchmark for local entities in the provision of services, advice, training of elected representatives and local technicians and also as the entity that best defends municipal interests before other administrations".

The Catalan Association of Municipalities has a history of 37 years and has more than 900 associated municipalities.

The signed text incorporates that both parties will also propose the incorporation of representatives of other parties with a municipal presence to the Presidential Commission and the Executive Committee. Junts and ERC have a similar number of presidencies of local entities associated with the ACM, around 35% of the total each.
