“To be more free, all Spaniards should invest in dividends”

Knowing how to move our money well helps us be less dependent on a job. A dream pursued by the followers of the Financial Independence movement (IF), of which Juan E. Cortés, known as El Loco del Dividendo, is a part. This 36-year-old computer engineer has gained a legion of followers on social networks by spreading the strategy that has allowed him to cover half of his monthly expenses with income from dividends in just over five years.

If his predictions come true, he will retire at 40: “I think it can happen in at least five years,” he explains on the Bolsillo podcast. Furthermore, he assures that he focuses his efforts on "all Spaniards investing in dividends." For Cortés, who declares himself a disciple of fellow investor Gregorio Hernández, investing in companies that pay dividends "creates freedom" both for the investor and for Spanish companies, which "would not be supported by foreign international funds; they would belong to the Spanish."
