Three men arrested in Guissona for a kidnapping linked to drug trafficking

The Mossos have arrested three people accused of the "express kidnapping" of a man, whom they held at his home in Guissona (Lleida) while they demanded that his son pay them an alleged debt linked to marijuana trafficking, in cash or with drug.

As reported by the Catalan police d'Esquadra, two of the alleged perpetrators of the "express kidnapping", which occurred on October 19, were detained by Catalan police officers in Igualada (Barcelona), while the third was arrested, in collaboration with the National Police, when he was at the Barajas airport with the intention of leaving Spain.

The detainees, aged 24, 26 and 29 and who are accused of the crimes of kidnapping, home invasion and robbery with violence, gagged and illegally detained a man in his own home and, as ransom, demanded money from his son in cash or drug.

The victim was released in an industrial estate in Ódena (Barcelona) from where he called the Mossos, to whom he reported that two men had broken into his house in Guissona and, after attacking him, had gagged him and held him on the sofa while they called his son to demand payment of an alleged debt related to marijuana trafficking.

Based on the information provided by the victim, the agents deployed a search device that made it possible to locate two of the alleged perpetrators of the kidnapping at a gas station in Òdena.

The alleged kidnappers tried to flee towards the center of Igualada (Barcelona), until they were intercepted and detained.

The Central Kidnapping and Extortion Unit of the Mossos d'Esquadra kept the investigation open, which allowed them to identify the alleged mastermind of the kidnapping, to whom the victim's son allegedly owed money for a matter related to drug trafficking.

Thanks to police collaboration, the alleged instigator of the kidnapping was arrested when he was at the Barajas airport about to leave Spain.
