This will be the first absolute women's speed World Championship: the women's SBK

The first exclusively women's World Championship of the FIM (International Motorcycle Federation) will launch in 2024 under the Superbike umbrella. It will practically be a women's SBK World Championship, since it will coincide with six of the rounds of the factory motorcycle championship, according to the first characteristics that were announced at the Jerez circuit.

At the Ángel Nieto circuit, coinciding with the Spanish Superbike Round, the president of the FIM, Jorge Viegas, announced the main details of the new exclusively female competition.

The FIM Women's World Championship will be made up of six events or Rounds (the equivalent of Grand Prix), with two races each, Race1 on Saturday and Race2 on Sunday, plus a Superpole on Friday. The six weekends will be integrated into the World Superbike calendar.

The six events Rounds will be:

1. Emilia Romagna Round, at the Misano Marco Simoncelli circuit, June 14-16.

2. UK Round, at the Donington Park circuit, July 12-14.

3. Portuguese Round, at the Autódromo de Algarve, August 9-11.

4. Hungarian Round, at the Balaton circuit, August 23-25.

5. Italian Round, at the Cremona circuit, on September 20-22.

6. Spanish Round, at the Jerez-Ángel Nieto circuit, on October 11-13.

The motorcycle for the Women's World Championship will be a Yamaha YZF-R7, a model that offers 689cc and 73 HP, weighing 188 kg. It will be a single-brand championship (all motorcycles the same).

To be able to participate, the pilots must be a minimum of 18 years old and will have to submit an application for a selection, between November 13 and January 31. In addition, the permanent drivers of the championship must pay a participation fee of 25,000 euros (which includes the use of the Yamaha, sets of Pirelli tires, fuel, competition services and access to the Paddock Village).

Some of the benefits that the FIM explains that the participants in the Women's World Cup will have are television media coverage, financial prizes and the possibility of public relations and marketing to give visibility to the sponsors of each pilot.
