This scene from 'Home Alone' has been repeated 33 years later: this is how Macaulay Culkin and Catherine O'Hara are today

Who would have thought that the boy who was once left home alone would now be receiving one of Hollywood's biggest honors? Macaulay Culkin, the eternal Kevin McCallister in the Home Alone franchise, has received a star on the famous Walk of Fame.

Watching Culkin, the boy who once defended his home with wit and a series of clever tricks, receive this honor was an emotional moment for everyone who grew up watching him on screen. And of course, his co-stars were there, celebrating this achievement with him.

The most pleasant surprise of the event was the presence of Catherine O'Hara, his on-screen mother, who reunited with Culkin three decades after their memorable work in the classic Christmas movie. At one point, while O'Hara was congratulating her former son in the movies, she even accidentally recreated one of the most memorable scenes from the film.

The actress, joking about how she had "left Culkin home alone not once, but twice," expressed her pride in the actor and his well-deserved place on the Walk of Fame. In this sense, O'Hara recalled the time she worked with Culkin and how her natural performance in Home Alone and Home Alone 2. Lost in New York had marked millions of viewers around the world.

O'Hara, in her speech, not only praised Culkin's "perfect" performance as Kevin McCallister, but also highlighted his "sweet and twisted, but totally relatable" sense of humor, a quality she says is a sign of intelligence in a child and key to survival at any age.

Although his worldwide fame is due to his role as Kevin McCallister, the New York actor has continued to remain active in show business despite having expressed his desire to leave acting at the age of 14. Since the early 2000s, he has made cameos and appeared in several television shows and movies, but it was not until 2021 when he returned to the acting front line by participating in American Horror Story: Double Feature.

His life has always been marked by addiction problems. However, in 2020 he assured Esquire that he was completely clean and his life had completely changed. Actress Brenda Song, his wife and mother of his two children, has been largely to blame for Culkin's resurgence.

Catherine O'Hara, after her acclaimed role in Home Alone, has continued to shine in the world of entertainment. From 2015 to 2020, she starred as Moira Rose in the hit comedy Schitt's Creek. Her performance in this series earned her six Canadian Screen Awards for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

In the sixth and final season, O'Hara swept all five of television's biggest awards: a TCA Award, an Emmy, a Golden Globe, a Critics' Choice Television Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Additionally, in 2017, O'Hara appeared as Dr. Georgina Orwell in the first season of the Netflix dark comedy series, A Series of Unfortunate Events. Interestingly, she was the only actress in the cast of the 2004 film adaptation to reprise her role in the series. She will soon star in Bitelchús 2, which will arrive at the end of 2024.
