This is Maserati's new track beast, with more than 700 HP of power

The manufacturer specializing in luxury sports cars Maserati has shown its latest creation in full action, tailor-made for lovers of speed and strong emotions. This is the MCXtrema, a radical proposal designed to give it your all on the circuit and which, according to the trident firm, has reached its final stretch before its launch.

According to the brand's forecasts, the first owners of this impressive vehicle will begin receiving their units at the end of this summer. Maserati first introduced the MCXtrema during last year's prestigious US Monterey Car Week event. The car is an evolution of the MC20 updated and modified to dominate the track.

The first thing that catches your attention about the Italian sports car is its spectacular design, thanks in part to the aggressive aerodynamic package it incorporates. The vehicle's air intakes and huge adjustable rear spoiler clearly differentiate it from the already eye-catching MC20. Another of the big differences is found in the specific 18-inch wheels associated with competition tires.

The exterior is not the only aspect that has been renewed compared to the MC20 on which the MCXtrema is based. The propulsion system has been subjected to a thorough review with the aim of achieving the best results when fighting against the stopwatch. Both cars are powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo Nettuno V6, but in this novelty for the circuit the engine has been adjusted and equipped with a different exhaust and new turbochargers.

After the various improvements, the engine in this case generates no less than 730 HP of power, that is, a hundred more than in the MC20. The horsepower figure coincides with the maximum torque figure, since the MCXtrema delivers 730 Nm, so there are no changes in this regard. As assured by Maserati, at the end of this month of April the last tests that are being carried out on the circuit will conclude.

Before that, the trident brand's engineers have dedicated hundreds of hours to studying and improving its behavior using simulators and different computer models. This virtual analysis has influenced important design decisions such as the minimalist layout of the vehicle's interior, which is inspired by the single-seat cockpit of a Formula 1 car.

As you might imagine, given its level of exclusivity, the new Maserati MCXtrema is not designed for all budgets. At the moment, its official price is unknown, but it is expected to exceed one million euros. What we do know is that not many drivers will be able to enjoy it, since the Italian manufacturer has announced that only 62 units will be produced.

What none of the future owners will be able to do is drive on the open road, since the vehicle is designed to only ride on a circuit. If you are interested in enjoying this extraordinary sports car showing everything it is capable of offering on the track, you just have to take a look at the video that accompanies this article.
