They search for two missing people in the Strait who fell into the sea from some drug boats

Maritime Rescue maintains two active operations in the waters of the Strait on the Cadiz coast to find two people who fell into the sea from two different boats that would, presumably, be related to drug trafficking.

One of them disappeared on Sunday at 8:00 p.m. while the second person was lost at 6:50 a.m. this Monday.

It was on Sunday afternoon when a boat collided with a merchant ship 25 miles east of Punta Europa, on the coast of Algeciras. Three of its four occupants managed to be rescued, two of them by the Customs Surveillance Service, and the third by members of the Civil Guard, as noted by Maritime Rescue. However, a fourth person had fallen into the sea and has not yet been located.

For this operation there is the Helimer 223 helicopter and the Salvamar Gadir and Salvamar Alnitak boats, which have found the remains of the boat that was allegedly being used to commit some activity related to drug trafficking.

A similar event occurred this Monday morning. At 06:50, and from another boat used for the same purposes as the previous one, another man jumped into the sea, according to the notice received by the Tarifa coordination center.

The individual, who jumped four miles west of the island of Tarifa, has not been located despite the fact that the Salvamar Arcturus has been deployed to search for him since the moment of the notification.
