The woman who ran over a driver in Mallorca and fled is turned in

A woman has turned herself in to the Local Police of Palma as the alleged perpetrator of the hit-and-run that on Tuesday caused the sudden death of a man in Mallorca and then went on the run. She is accused of a crime of reckless homicide and omission of the duty of relief and her vehicle has been intervened to expand the investigation.

The Civil Guard was searching the entire island for the driver, who fled after fatally running over a man on the Palma beltway. The deceased is a driver of a truck who had gotten out of the vehicle after suffering a breakdown. The man was struck by the vehicle that was traveling at high speed and death was almost instantaneous.

Several ambulances and emergency services have traveled to the scene of the accident, after 07:00 hours after receiving a call alerting them to the event. Several witnesses say that the driver had gotten out of the truck when he detected that he had problems. He had his emergency lights on and was wearing safety devices.

The Civil Guard has set up a search device for the car and is reviewing the various security cameras that exist in the area of the accident, at an exit from the road near the Palma cemetery. The driver is accused of a crime of omission of the duty of relief. The Civil Guard was already clear that he will be arrested shortly since, apparently, the cameras have recorded both the license plate and the driver himself.

The event has caused enormous traffic jams throughout the morning at the accesses to Palma, since the broken-down truck has been held up on the shoulder, which has generated queues of up to seven kilometers in length at some accesses to Palma from the neighboring municipalities, due to which that from 112 recommend the use of alternative routes.
