The vindication of the sun in Salou

I have taken this series of photographs for La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos in Platja de Levante in Salou, on the Costa Dorada, where the sun makes time to shine at any time of the year.

In one of the snapshots we even see how the solar pillar phenomenon manifests itself. A pillar light is an atmospheric optical phenomenon in which a vertical beam of light appears to extend above and/or below a light source.

The effect is created by the reflection of light from small ice crystals that are suspended in the atmosphere or that comprise high-altitude clouds (for example, cirrostratus or cirrus clouds).

If the light comes from the sun (generally when it is near or even below the horizon), the phenomenon is called a solar pillar, as in this case at Platja de Levante in Salou.

It is an urban beach located in the center of the town, a real reference, too, because it is the largest and is bordered by the great Jaime I promenade.
