The Valencian PP describes as "contempt" the cancellation of 4 Alicante-Madrid AVE connections

The infrastructure spokesperson of the popular parliamentary group in Les Corts, José Ramón González de Zárate, has regretted "the new contempt" of the Government of Pedro Sánchez towards the Valencian Community for the suppression of four daily connections between Alicante and Madrid due to the works of Chamartín station.

"First they eliminated the connection from Alicante to Atocha, moving its natural high-speed station and taking the AVE to Chamartín, and now they are eliminating lines due to the works at that station," he criticized.

The deputy has assured that this is "a new cut by Renfe that joins the Sánchez Government's refusal to build a second runway at the Alicante-Elche airport, as well as the expansion of Valencia-Manises."

For the popular spokesperson, "the grievances of the Sánchez Government towards the province of Alicante in particular and the Valencian Community in general have no justification."

He detailed that "they announce that frequencies will be reduced until the works initially planned until the beginning of July are completed, in the middle of the summer campaign, without measuring the possible repercussions and damage to tourist and business interests."

"We ask you to stop being cruel with the cuts. You do not take into account that Alicante is the fifth province by population and, however, it is the 50th province in terms of state investment in the general budgets of the State," he pointed out.

In his opinion, "the Valencian Community does not have to pay the consequences of the negligence of a Central Government incapable of launching investments that have a direct impact on citizens."

González de Zárate has indicated that "this new grievance is combined with the cut in water supply, leaving irrigators without water, the abandonment of Cercanías, the lack of investment in infrastructure or, among others, the paralysis of the change in the financing model that so much harms the Valencian Community."
