The Valencian Community calls for minutes of silence in condemnation of the sexist crime in Alzira

The Consell and other institutions such as the Valencia City Council have called a minute of silence this Friday to condemn the murder of a woman in Alzira, a victim of violence against women. The Government Delegation against Gender Violence has confirmed the crime as a new case of gender violence, thus raising the number of women murdered in 2023 to 40 and 1,224 since 2003.

After confirming the crime as sexist violence, the Consell has convened this silent concentration at 12 o'clock at the door of the Palau de la Generalitat to condemn the murder of Raquel, 58, supposedly at the hands of her ex-husband and to show the rejection of all Valencian society against these events, as well as solidarity with their family and friends.

The head of the Consell has collected a few minutes ago the confirmation of the Government on social networks and condemned the crime with the following message: "One more case of sexist violence hits the Valencian Community. My deepest condolences to his family and all my indignation and rejection before this new sexist murder. Not a step back against this scourge".

Likewise, concentrations have been called at the same time in the Consell delegations in Alicante and Castellón. The one of the Valencia City Council is at 11.00. The Government Delegation has also called for this Friday a minute of silence in condemnation of the sexist crime.
