The universe of Greg, the protagonist of 275 million books

Total Scoundrel, Rodrick's Law, This Is The Last Thing, Dog Days... The 17 titles in the Diary of a Wimpyx series that began publishing in 2007 in print are featured prominently in An Unlikely Story. , the bookstore-café that Jeff Kinney set up with his wife Julie in 2015 in Plainville, just a few blocks from where the author moved with his family in 1998. “We needed a special place,” says Kinney as he browses the shelves of this beautiful building from the mid-nineteenth century.

Greg's universe is condensed within these walls and no one better than his own creator to guide us through who's who.

To say goodbye, Kinney signs our book in which he draws Greg. She explains that the grumpy, judgmental teenager from The Catcher in the Rye, Holden Caulfield, was a big influence in creating Greg. With the ease with which he draws it, one would not imagine that he needs between 350 and 400 visual ideas to create a good book. His love for drawing came from his childhood, from his father, a fan of comics, so he always wanted to dedicate himself to this field. And he tried for 14 years without success. No newspaper in Maryland wanted to publish Greg's adventures. Maybe it was a stroke of luck.
