The twenty families of the occupied block of Sabadell are still without electricity a month after the cut

The group of 27 families from the occupied Guillem Agulló block in Sabadell publicly denounce that they are still without electricity for almost a month after Endesa cut off their supply. The neighbors look for formulas to combat the heat and face the day to day without, for example, having a fridge to store food or medicine. However, they admit that the situation is "mentally exhausting" and hope to get service back soon.

In this sense, the Sabadell City Council and the company are working on it, but they still cannot specify a date that guarantees the service throughout the estate.

The building, owned by a large holder, has been occupied since 2015 and Sara Amghar Tanioui has lived there with her daughter practically from day one. She assures that "it is the first time that the power has been cut off" and that these weeks without service have been "horrible".

In his case, his father bought him a camping gas that he uses to cook just and necessary and moves around the house with lanterns. However, she is hopeful that the situation will change.

Carlos Ismael Suárez, who has a pacemaker, has lived with his wife for about eight years. She suffers from diabetes and fibromyalgia, which requires them to keep her insulin refrigerated. "She goes to her sister's house who lives in the suburbs to take medication," he says. He maintains that they are "having a bad time". Suárez acknowledges that the heat does not help and that at night "he barely sleeps."

Another of the neighbors Tibysae Hernández, who will be eight years in the block in October, specified that living without electricity forced them to "change their habits" and face problems "as they arise." She has also warned of the danger posed by the twenty butane cylinders that currently exist in the building.

Endesa sources have explained to ACN that the council and the electricity company are working on resolving the problem. The company's technical team has transferred the necessary information to install social meters that would allow the community to recover the supply.

However, the farm does not have electricity for security reasons, because, as they have insisted, there is a possibility of electrocution or fire. And they have recalled that the law protects them to interrupt the service "if there is a situation" of irregularity and insecurity", according to article 87 of Royal Decree 1955/2000. On the other hand, the company has indicated the need to "regularize" contract.

The Sabadell City Council is holding talks with the PAHC, the property owner, Endesa and the Generalitat for the restoration of light, as municipal sources have specified to the ACN. In this sense, they specified that "there are some aspects" that are "extending the times." For example, the fact that the general accountant is not active, something that is not included in the agreement between the company and the Government, they have highlighted.
