The transsexual, light or confusion

This author is in favor of individual happiness and even more of happy readers, who, unlike happy hens, neither lay expensive eggs nor get up early.

Each one aspires to happiness in his own way, and if he is a father, he aspires to his own and that of his children. Let's not say if he governs: his thing is to distribute happiness and receive votes.

The Government yesterday approved the bill on transsexuality that opens the change of sex from the age of 12, an age in which in my times – which are not these – you only changed cards.

Do I have a clear opinion? No. The only clear thing is the doubts, I hope they are reasonable. In a matter of very few years, I would say months, transsexuality has entered society with a lot of momentum. Unlike the Federal Reserve and interest rates, people talk about transsexuality like they talk about the weather, vacations or scooters: everyone thinks.

Suddenly, from all areas – family, friends, sports entities, educational centers – you are told about cases of minors with serious gender doubts. And this Spanish society, quite tolerant, I would say, strives so that no child suffers. The former pre-constitutional children the first. It is not our world, but neither have we left nor do we want to annoy anyone.

What I perceive is that there are more and more children with sexual identity problems and I am beginning to think that instead of solving intimate dramas we are multiplying them. I would swear that children want certainty –even when they reach the age of majority– and the “social message” goes in the opposite direction –it stimulates doubts–, that is why we know so many cases in a short time. I will not frivolize talking about a fashion, but I do detect a very high growth, suspiciously high. This is not about tattooing or not...

Are we giving solutions or anxiety to minors? In a matter of radical changes in uses and customs, nobody wants to seem retrograde. And we act in good faith, but something tells me that social and institutional discourse creates children who are more insecure than happy. And that does not mean defending immobility.
