Real Madrid's controversial comeback against Almería, influenced by three referee decisions at the request of the VAR, has set Spanish football on fire, a good part of which remains in disbelief at what happened at the Bernabéu.
The first of the decisions that began to decide the match came in the 56th minute, with 0-2 for Almería. It was a handball from the center back Kaiky, without any prior foul by Rüdiger or Joselu on Edgar being noticed. Neither the footballers nor the Bernabéu had protested the hand. The penalty converted by Bellingham made it 1-2.
The second action came in the 62nd minute when referee Hernández Maeso annulled a goal by Arribas that had made it 1-3. The Real Madrid players were preparing to serve when there was a call from the VAR, where Hernández Hernández, one of the referees most reported by Real Madrid TV, was staying, to the referee. Hernández Maeso finally decided to annul the goal because he interpreted that at the beginning of the play Lopy had slapped Bellingham.
The third of the plays came in the 67th minute and was Vinícius' goal that made it 2-2. The referee annulled the goal in the first instance and after the VAR call he went to the monitor to ask if the goal had been with the arm, as he had thought in the first instance, or with the shoulder. After the consultation he changed to the latter and validated the goal even though the images seem to show that the Brazilian from Real Madrid finished with his arm.
