The testing of chemical risk sirens in Barcelonès, Baix Llobregat and Vallès Occidental has been completed

This Wednesday at 11 a.m. a test of chemical risk sirens was carried out and the sending of telephone alerts in 16 municipalities of Barcelonès, Baix Llobregat and Vallès Occidental. After the end of the drill, Civil Protection has assessed that "the 40 sirens have sounded correctly in an area of ​​coverage where more than 430,000 people live".

According to a statement from Civil Protection, a total of 54 educational centers, with 23,000 people, including students, teachers and administration staff, have actively participated in the test by carrying out a "total confinement" exercise.

This type of alerts and sirens, which are part of Plaseqcat, had previously been tested in areas such as Camp de Tarragona, Terres de l'Ebre, several municipalities of Aran, Bages, Berguedà, Selva and Vallès Oriental

The test carried out this Wednesday morning has reached areas with high work activity, such as Mercabarna, the logistics activities area of ​​the Port of Barcelona or the Seat de Martorell.
