The 'Sports broadcasts of RAC1', Radio Association award

The sports programs Sports transmissions from RAC1 and Tot Costa de Catalunya Ràdio, the podcast ‘La ronda perversa’ from Radiofònics, the program D’on ets tu? of Ràdio 4, El Dominical de Ràdio Arenys, and Carles Godó, Carles Pérez and Josep Genescà, with honorable mentions for their careers, are the winners of the 24th edition of the Ràdio Associació awards announced this morning.

The jury chaired by Carles Solà and made up of Joan Manuel Tresserras, Imma Tubella, Assumpció Maresma and Jordi Margarit has decided to concentrate the winners in fewer categories and carry out more collective recognitions to take into account the exceptional fact that this 24th edition of the awards coincides with the commemoration of the Centennial of Radio. For this reason, the jury has prioritized the specifically radio categories and has left none of the out-of-competition awards without recipients, such as Best Professional and Excellence, “in order to pay a general tribute to all the professionals who have carried radio in Catalan to current excellence.”

Thus, in the category of best Radio Program, the award is ex-aequo to the sports programs Transmissions esportives of RAC1 and Tot Costa of Catalunya Ràdio "for their determined commitment to the generation of sports language in Catalan, adaptation to current events of new formats, and fulfill one of the first functions that radio had in our country: sharing the passion for sports with the listener.”

The award for best Local Radio Program goes to El Dominical, from Ràdio Arenys, directed by journalist Enric Sierra, deputy director of La Vanguardia, and which has been on the air for thirty years. The jury has highlighted, precisely, that it is an "example of perseverance and following current events, since it is one of the longest-running programs of municipal stations, which is part of the first radio space that Radio Arenys had in 1979." Another merit of the program is that the team is made up of communication professionals who altruistically participate in the magazine.

In the Innovation category, the prize is awarded to La ronda perversa, by Radiofònics, a podcast directed by David Balaguer that proposes “a linguistic game through which aspects of the personality of the popular guest characters become known.”

In the section dedicated to Inclusion, the award goes to D'on ets tú?, from Ràdio 4, which “gives voice and presents the daily life, difficulties, advantages and curiosities of young Catalans of diverse origins in a relaxed and complete way ”.

And in the section of Honorable Mentions, the jury, at its own proposal and that of the Governing Council of Ràdio Associació de Catalunya, has awarded the following three: Carles Godó, responsible for the institutional audio and voice computer system of RAC1 "for his activity in this and other stations, and for the diverse and complete set of functions it has developed"; Carles Pérez, for his career "as an announcer and scriptwriter in various spaces of Catalunya Ràdio, who was head of programs during the democratic recovery of Ràdio Associació 40 years ago"; and Josep Genescà, founder and director of Ràdio Puig-reig" who since 1991 has promoted the debate and dissemination of radio broadcasting through the organization of the annual Forum 10 Communication".

The awards ceremony and Centenary Gala will be held at the Palau de la Música Catalana on February 26, starting at 7:30 p.m., presented and directed by Jordi Basté, an atypical awards gala for an extraordinary year. The act can be followed on the website of Ràdio Associació and La Xarxa.
