The spectacle of the late almond trees

In Torelló, in the Osona region, the almond trees are late in flowering, but they are already here and we can enjoy them in full bloom, as can be seen in this photographic report in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

The almond tree is a tree that knows how to choose when to flower in winter, assuming the risk of losing flowers in a possible frost, but also weighing the danger of having difficulties to ripen its fruits in summer.

They generally do it around the months of February and March, but it is observed that more and more progress is made in mid or late January, as has also happened this year. In Torelló, on the other hand, they shine in mid-March this 2023.

The almond tree is a deciduous tree that originated in Western Asia and has been cultivated in Spain for more than 2,000 years.
