In Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we propose the exercise of listening to how the water sounds as it flows under the Romanesque bridge of La Riera, in Sant Pere de Torelló.
It is a single-arch bridge from the medieval era over the river Ges, a tributary of the river Ter. We are located in a valley in the north of the Osona region.
The Ges Valley is a valley currently made up of three municipalities: Torelló, Sant Pere de Torelló and Sant Vicenç de Torelló.
The Romanesque bridge of La Riera, along with that of Targarona, formed part of the paths used to move around the region of Osona or La Garrotxa. It was especially useful for driving cattle to fairs and pastures.
Due to a heavy downpour that occurred in 1940, the medieval bridge suffered damage and had to be rehabilitated. Currently, it is located within the Mas La Riera estate.
