The silence of La Llosa del Cavall

Foggy morning in the Llosa del Cavall reservoir, as seen in The Readers' Photos of La Vanguardia. A good place to enjoy it is from the Mola de Lord where the sanctuary is located. In this place, only a herd breaks the silence looking for pasture.

The Vall de Lord takes us to the north of the Solsonès region and includes the municipalities of Sant Llorenç de Morunys (the largest population center that retains its walled enclosure), La Coma and La Pedra (two population centers that form a unique municipality surrounded by centuries-old fountains and oak groves) and Guixers (where the population lives spread out in farmhouses).

The Llosa del Cavall reservoir feeds from the Cardener river, a tributary of the Llobregat, in the Vall de Lord. The dam is located in the municipality of Navés and the reservoir also extends through Guixers and a small portion of Sant Llorenç de Morunys, between the mountains of Busa, to the east, and Capdevila, to the west. To the west of the swamp, is the sanctuary of Lord.

The reservoir, whose double-circle arch dam is 122 meters high, is named after the wooded and sparsely populated area known as Llosa del Cavall.

La Mola de Lord is a mountain in this valley located at 1189 meters of altitude, within the municipality of Sant Llorenç de Morunys.

The whole mountain is included in the Natural Interest Areas Plan (PEIN) of the Generalidad de Catalunya and more specifically in the area of the Serres de Busa-els Bastets-Lord.
