The shepherd of the dogs that this Monday killed a young woman on a rural road in Zamora may face charges of reckless homicide, as indicated by the Government delegate in Castilla y León, Virginia Barcones.

"The dogs were loose and without the presence of the owner of the farm. There were seven dogs: three mastiffs, two careo shepherd dogs and two puppies less than a month old from a careo shepherd bitch," Barcones explained this Tuesday in statements to the press at the Salamanca Civil Guard Command, after presenting an operation against cybercrime.

The owner of the livestock farm is scheduled to testify before the judge this Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. and the crime he could face after the investigation of the facts is reckless homicide, the delegate reported. "The Civil Guard is investigating and clarifying responsibilities. The dogs are in quarantine and will be brought before the courts to determine their fate," Barcones said.

The delegate has also specified that four of the dogs were correctly identified and vaccinated and there is a fifth "that is not" and it is being investigated whether "due to age there was no obligation for it to be that way."

The event occurred around 6:20 p.m. on Monday, when a 27-year-old girl from Roales del Pan (Zamora) was walking alone along a concentration path in the neighboring municipality of La Hiniesta. The young woman had time to warn her mother that the dogs were approaching her, but when the woman reached the road, her daughter had already suffered the attack.

The paramedics sent to the scene could only confirm his death and an autopsy will be performed in Zamora this Tuesday.
