The city of Madrid is preparing to host the emblematic Nationale-Nederlanden San Silvestre Vallecana race on December 31, which will run through the districts of Chamartín, Salamanca, Centro, Retiro and Puente de Vallecas, and in which approximately 41,500 runners.

For this reason, the Madrid City Council has designed a mobility plan that includes a set of measures to facilitate mobility and safety, both pedestrian and vehicle, in the surroundings of the places where the event will be held. In addition, the number of Mobility Agents will be increased.

The City Council recommends that attendees and spectators of the event use public transport and avoid driving in private vehicles through the affected areas. If it is necessary to use a private vehicle for long-distance trips, it is advisable to use the M-30 and M-40.

Although the test starts at 5 p.m., from 3:30 p.m. on December 31, 2023, traffic closures are planned on 20 roads that are part of the San Silvestre Vallecana route: Avenida de Concha Espina, Calle de Serrano, Plaza de la República Argentina, Plaza de la Independencia, Calle de Alcalá, Plaza de Cibeles, Paseo del Prado, Plaza de Cánovas del Castillo, Plaza del Emperador Carlos V, Avenida de Ciudad de Barcelona, ​​Avenida de la Albufera, Avenida del Monte Igueldo , Martínez de la Riva street, Javier de Miguel street, Carlos Martín Álvarez street, Sierra de Cadí street, Puerto del Monasterio street, Payaso Fofó street, Arroyo del Olivar street and Candilejas street.

Due to the preparations and assembly and disassembly work of the start and finish line, there will be other traffic cuts on Concha Espina Avenue from the Plaza de los Sagrados Corazones to Serrano Street, from 3:00 p.m. on December 30 until 11:59 p.m. on December 31.

Also Serrano street between Padilla and Marqués de Villamejor, Paseo del Prado (lanes going up to Plaza de Cibeles) and Avenida de Ciudad de Barcelona between Mitjans and Cerro Negro (lanes going down towards Puente de Vallecas) from 4:15 p.m. time of December 31st.

And Rafael Salgado street between Paseo de la Castellana and Padre Damián on December 31 from 2 p.m. to midnight; Padre Damián street between Rafael Salgado and Concha Espina on December 31 from 1 to 10 p.m.; the side of Paseo de la Castellana heading north between the Joaquín Costa overpass and Hermanos Pinzón street on December 31 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Likewise, all traffic lanes under the Vallecas Bridge in both directions will be affected on December 31 from 2:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Candilejas Street in the section between Morena Clara and Plaza de la Assembly, downhill lanes towards that plaza from 8 a.m. on December 30 to 11 p.m. on December 31; and on the same street from the Assembly Square to Payaso Fofó from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on the 31st.

Finally, on Calle del Payaso Fofó from Candilejas to Calle del Arroyo del Olivar from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on the 31st. The right lane between Calle del Arroyo del Olivar and Javier de Miguel will be busy from the 30th at 8 a.m. and on January 1 at 11:59 p.m.

During the preparations and development of the races, traffic cuts will affect access to the Rafael Salgado resident car park, San Juan de la Salle resident car park, Santo Domingo de Silos resident car park, Puerto Monasterio resident car park, public car park. On the 31st between 4 and 9 p.m., a total of 56 bus lines of the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) will have to modify their itinerary for the test. The affected lines, in various time slots, are 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 24, 26, 27, 28, 32, 34, 37, 43, 45, 51, 52, 53, 54, 56, 57, 58, 59, 61, 74, 85, 86, 102, 103, 111, 113, 120, 136, 141, 144, 146, 148, 150, 152, 156, 310, 001, C03, C1, C2, E1 and Airport Express.

In addition, from the 30th there will be detours due to the assembly and disassembly of the infrastructure on Concha Espina Avenue. The effects on lines 14, 43, 120 and 150 will occur progressively from 2:00 p.m. on December 30 to 11:00 p.m. on December 31.

In the district of Puente de Vallecas, the assembly and subsequent disassembly after the sports event will condition the normal operation of line 103 as it passes through Payaso Fofó and Candilejas streets between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. that same day.

The end of the daytime service on December 31 will be between 9:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m., depending on the line and the departure point, except special lines and routes to cemeteries.

On New Year's Eve, the night service schedule from N1 to N26 will begin at 10:30 p.m. from the Cibeles headland and end at 7 a.m. Line N28 will begin service from Moncloa at 10:50 p.m. and the last service It will be at 7 hours from that same head.

On January 1, the EMT daytime network will begin providing service between 7:15 and 8:45 a.m., depending on the line and headend. Regarding the Airport Express service, on December 31, the route to the airport will make the last trip at 9:30 p.m. from Airport T4 and at 9:45 p.m. from the Atocha interchange. Its night service will begin that day in both headwaters at 10:30 p.m. and will end at 7 a.m. in both.

The bike stations closed for the race will be those located on Ortega y Gasset Street, 4 (station 103); Serrano Street, 54 (station 105); Plaza de Colón (stations 106A and 106B); Columela Street (station 107); Plaza de la República Argentina (station 137); Calle de Serrano 210 (station 148) and Paseo de la Habana, 42 (station 149).

The stops located from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the Plaza de los Sagrados Corazones, on Avenida de Concha Espina 14-16 and Paseo de la Habana 15-17 and from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. will be temporarily affected. Serrano Street 2, 36-40, 44-46, 54-56, 68-72, 88; Prado 1 promenade (side); and Sierra de Cadí street 3-5.
