Barcelona plans to begin the remodeling works on the Masía de Can Planes, which for almost 32 years was the residence of the Barça youth football players, starting in the third quarter of 2025, as reported this Saturday by the entity in a statement.

Barça also reported that it has awarded the remodeling works of the facility, which will become the club's new headquarters, to the ABR Arquitectos Barcelona Rio office. In this sense, the Barça entity plans to soon present a special plan so that The building maintains its original appearance and thus meets the requirements of the Modification of the General Metropolitan Plan.

Once the project is approved, the club chaired by Joan Laporta must request permission for a building license from Barcelona City Council. For this reason, Barça contemplates starting work on the facility from the third quarter of 2025.

The Masía de Can Planes was built in 1702 and was located within the land acquired by the club in 1950 for the construction of the Camp Nou.

Initially, it was used as a work room for architects and builders, but with the inauguration of the stadium in 1957 it closed its doors. Subsequently, it housed the entity's offices from 1966 to 1978, when the headquarters were moved next to the ice rink.

Under the presidency of José Luis Núñez it became the residence of young players who lived far from Barcelona, who until October 1979, the date of its inauguration, lived in boarding houses and private homes.

With the construction of a new residence for young athletes in the Joan Gamper Sports City, in Sant Joan Despí (Barcelona), the Masía de Can Planes closed its doors on June 30, 2011.
