I have captured these images for La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos of the monument honoring cyclists in the Coll de Bracons, in the Garrotxa region, which would be something like the Catalan Tourmalet for bicycle fans.

This mountain pass at 1,132 meters of altitude and with 650 meters of elevation gain is highly appreciated by cyclists, as it is famous for its toughness among followers of this sport.

The Coll de Bracons is one of the hardest paved mountain passes in La Garrotxa. In this aspect, it stands out for the final 5 kilometers with a slope that at all times exceeds 8% and with ramps that reach 14%.

The monument honoring cyclists is located a few meters from the top of the mountain pass. It has been promoted by the Bas Cycling Club, organizer of the La Remences cycling race. A section of this test passes precisely through this point.

This sculpture especially pays tribute to all the people who have participated and collaborated with La Remences and, especially, Toni Fité, one of the organizers, who died in May 2022.

The sculpture measures four meters high and is made of iron and stainless steel. The author of this monument is the blacksmith d’en Bas, Narcís Salgueda. In these images we can see the work with the fog as a backdrop.
