The top managers of the public universities of Catalonia ask, through a joint statement through the Catalan Association of Public Universities, that the different political forces of the Parliament reach an agreement to advance the economic budgets for this 2024. The text says so :
The rectors of the Catalan public universities, in the context of the processing and parliamentary debate of the Generalitat's budgets for this year 2024, want to express the need to have this key financial tool for the progress of Catalonia. Through new budgets, the Government of the Generalitat must be able to adequately address the needs of our country.
With regard to the university and research field, Catalan public universities must have adequate resources to be able to apply the new Organic Law of the University System (LOSU). Despite not reaching the forecasts established by the National Pact for the Knowledge Society for the year 2024, the financial commitments included in the budgets are absolutely necessary to allow Catalan public universities to maintain their activity and become the basis for from which to continue building the Catalonia of knowledge.
It is for all these reasons that we call on the political forces to reach the necessary agreements to make possible the approval of the Generalitat's budgets for this year 2024.
