In The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we can see how the rainbow is exhibited in the castle of Cardona, in Bages. In fact, it gives the impression in this image that it emerges from inside the Minyona tower.

Although the rainbow is a continuous gradient of spectral colors, it is considered that these can be defined in seven fundamental colors: red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue and violet, which are equivalent to those mentioned by the scientist Isaac Newton in 1704. .

Cardona Castle is a fortress that concentrates centuries of history. The exceptional collegiate church of Sant Vicenç, a jewel of the Catalan Lombard Romanesque, stands out, as well as the tower of La Minyona (from the 11th century), 15 meters high and more than 10 meters in diameter.

Cardona Castle is probably the most important medieval fortress in Catalonia. It is located on a hill overlooking the salino valley and the Cardener valley.

It was built in the year 886 by Wifredo el Velloso. Romanesque and Gothic in style, it includes the so-called Sala Daurada and the Sala dels Entresòls.

During the fifteenth century, the Dukes of Cardona were the most important family in the Crown of Aragon, only behind the Royal House. For this reason they were called kings without a crown, since they had extensive territorial domains and dynastic ties with the royal houses of Castile, Portugal, Sicily and Naples.

In 1714, after a siege that largely destroyed the castle walls, it was one of the last redoubts to surrender to the Bourbon troops of Philip V during the War of the Spanish Succession.
