The PSPV postpones its executive scheduled for Monday to seek a candidacy agreement

The PSPV executive that was to be held this Monday has been postponed to, among other things, try to reach an agreement on a possible unitary candidacy for the congress of the Valencian federation, as reported by Cadena Ser and confirmed by this newspaper. This executive must convene the National Committee of the party, which in turn will convene the Congress in which it will elect the new secretary general after the step back announced by Ximo Puig.

Sources from the PSPV have indicated that the deadlines for calling party bodies are being modified to try to prevent several candidates from being presented to the National Committee. As this newspaper has already explained, the option preferred by the national leadership of the PSOE and by the political family led by Ximo Puig is for Diana Morant to be the only candidate on a unity list and thus avoid holding primaries.

However, the provincial secretaries of Alicante and Valencia, Alejandro Soler and Carlos Fernández Bielsa, have shown in the past their willingness to also present a candidacy to lead the PSPV. The decision to postpone the executive is therefore part of an attempt to reach an internal consensus ahead of a congress that would be held after the Galician elections scheduled for February 18.
