The PSOE of Ceuta breaks the negotiations to form a government with the PP

Negotiations between the PSOE and the PP to govern Ceuta in coalition come to a halt. The Socialists have assured this Thursday, in the midst of the negotiations that they were keeping open with the Popular Party of the autonomous city to form a coalition executive, that "currently there is not and cannot be a government pact with the PP of Feijóo" .

In a statement to the media, the general secretary of the Ceuta socialists, Juan Gutiérrez, has "absolutely" denied that "there is any agreement with the popular ones to form a government in Ceuta."

"The Ceuta socialists have amply demonstrated our commitment to dialogue and our commitment to the stability of Ceuta, but now is not the time for pacts," said the leader of the PSOE of the autonomous city, who aspired to take ownership of al least three ministries and the reins of several municipal companies to enter the Government led by Juan Vivas (PP).

The PP won the elections on May 28 and obtained nine of the 25 deputies in the Assembly, like the last legislature. The PSOE achieved six (one less), Vox five (before it had six), MDyC three (one more) and Ceuta Ya! two (since 2019 it only had one).

Vivas has ruled out Vox as a possible partner to reach any agreement, since he understands that their positions pose a threat to coexistence in Ceuta, and there has been a debate between reaching more or less specific agreements with the PSOE (like the last legislature except in 2020 , when he joined those of Abascal) or with the localist formations.

During the last week the PP of Ceuta and the Socialists, who refused to continue supporting the local Executive from outside, had outlined a coalition government agreement that the president of the City hoped to close "in September" and to which the Government He did not rule out also incorporating the MDyC despite the reluctance of the PSOE.

The entry of the PSOE into a government presided over by the PP, however, loses strength and is practically ruled out. A situation in which, logically, Ferraz's opinion has a lot to do with it.
