The Provincial Council of Lleida has announced the creation of a new Municipal Cooperation Fund, which arises as an evolution of the current economic plans aimed at current expenses and investments of the town councils.
This fund, which will be implemented at the beginning of 2024, has the main objective of directly transferring a total of 17.5 million euros to municipal coffers.
Joan Talarn, president of the Provincial Council, highlighted the growing complexity of "administrative bureaucracy" and highlighted that this initiative seeks to alleviate the workload of municipal secretaries. Furthermore, Talarn urged other administrations to take this initiative as a "model" to follow. For his part, Vice President Agustí Jiménez pointed out that this change implies a modification in the "rules of the game", allowing municipalities to have funds to make investments in a more "clear" way.
