The forcefulness of Pedro Sánchez in his response yesterday to the letter sent by Alberto Núñez Feijoo ruling out any meeting between the two has not made a dent in the Popular Party who, through its general secretary, Cuca Gamarra, has insisted on asking the acting president of the Government to reconsider his "slamming the door on Feijóo" at the hand extended by the national leader of the popular.
"We are very tenacious," Gamarra added after denouncing that, in his opinion, the letter with which Sánchez has responded to Feijóo's letter is an "absolute lack of respect for the Spanish" and "who has won the elections." "If the recipient of the letter had been EH Bildu, ERC, Junts, the PNV or anyone who seeks instability in Spain, he would not have taken long to meet anywhere in the world if necessary."
A response with which Gamarra has certified, as the leader of the Catalan PP, Alejandro Fernández, has done on Monday, that a possible negotiation of the PP with the pro-independence party Junts "is not on the table" as he did suggest on Saturday the deputy secretary of Regional and Local Coordination of the PP, Pedro Rollán.
Questioned about Rollán's words, Gamarra hastened to close the controversy by saying that the PP has "a way of being, acting and understanding politics that always involves institutional respect and the constitutional framework." "The PP does not throw in the towel," Gamarra insisted, urging the leader of the Socialists to assume that he is "the loser" of the July 23 elections to, consequently, engage in a dialogue aimed at guaranteeing the "governability" of Spain , instead of the "blockade" and "ungovernability" with "who has been the most voted force" in the recent elections.
