The PP discards the Canarian Coalition proposal for the PNV to preside over Congress

Negotiations are still in full swing 72 hours after the constitution of the Cortes, but the PNV seems to have run out of options to hold the presidency of the Congress of Deputies after the Canarian Coalition so proposed on Sunday in the pages of La Vanguardia. To the refusal of the PSOE, already slipped yesterday, has been added this Monday that of the Popular Party, which has acknowledged having "its own plans" for the configuration of the Chambers.

"There are many pools and everyone is free to propose whoever they want. We are deeply respectful of everyone's work, but obviously the PP has its plans," said the general coordinator of the popular, Elías Bendodo who has confirmed that the popular formation will present its own candidate: "It will be Alberto Núñez Feijóo who announces it in the coming days."

Speaking to the media on the occasion of his visit to the Malaga Fair, Bendodo confirmed the difference in strategies between his party and the Canary Islands Coalition. "I can speak on behalf of the PP and the truth is that the PP has its own plans", he stressed when asked about the proposal made by the current president of the Government of the Canary Islands and general secretary of the Canary Islands Coalition, Fernando Clavijo, so that "the PNV presides over the Congress".

The popular ones insist on awarding themselves the leadership of the investiture process and stress that, since 23-J, they have not taken "not even a minute of rest to build an alternative to the current Executive".

To this end, Bendodo points out that the PP has more support than the PSOE and claims that Feijóo "is four votes away from winning the investiture, while Sánchez only has the 121 seats he won at the polls. The popular coordinator does not include in his credit from the PSOE the support of Sumar by announcing that "We can not swallow with all the ministers proposed" by its leader, Yolanda Díaz, in the same way that he has insisted on rejecting any negotiation of the PP with Junts per Catalunya (JxCat).

"So there are only two options. Either a PP government with external support but with popular ministers; or a 24-party government made up of the PSOE, the 18 formations that make up Sumar and the five pro-independence and nationalist parties. In other words, , something ungovernable", he summarized before being "convinced" that the king, after his round of contacts, "will propose Alberto Núñez Feijóo" for the investiture and thus "constitute a Government that begins to roll as soon as possible".

Bendodo has charged hard against the PSOE for the announced investiture of María Chivite as president of the Foral Community of Navarra: "Today Pedro Sánchez's deception of all Spaniards is confirmed", he pointed out after making it clear that the Socialist Party will become with the presidency of Navarra "thanks to the support of the heirs of ETA".

The national coordinator of the PP has maintained that "Sánchez has been hiding this pact in a shameful way throughout the electoral campaign." And, according to his reasoning, he has wondered "if there is no socialist who is ashamed of that pact." "They have already removed the Civil Guard from the roads of Navarra and we do not know what the next concession would be", he has argued about the possible repercussions that this agreement may have in the Foral Community in the form of a transfer of powers by the State.
