The PP calls for the dismissal of the ministers who caused the clash with Tel Aviv

Yesterday, the PP asked the acting President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to dismiss the two Podemos ministers, whom it accuses of causing the diplomatic incident that broke out on Monday between Israel and Spain with their statements. An incident that the respective countries now consider to be over.

Although even the president of the PP himself, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, considered that the statement issued mid-afternoon on Monday by the Israeli embassy “could have been a little more accurate,” the spokesperson for the PP parliamentary group and general secretary of the party, Cuca Gamarra, considers that the president should dismiss the Podemos ministers in the Government, Ione Belarra and Irene Montero.

“We are not here to have enemies, but to have the leadership role that Spain has always had with other governments,” said Gamarra, who asked the members of the Government to be “more prudent” in the public statements they make because, in the end , the Government of Spain “is once again embarrassing our country, and this is the worst time for a diplomatic conflict.”

In the opinion of the number two of the popular people, in a conflict like the one that is taking place at the moment, “equidistance is not worth it” and we must condemn the terrorist attacks committed by Hamas against Israel, a country that in her opinion “has “every right to defend itself from the terrorist attacks it has suffered from a terrorist movement such as Hamas, but to do so, logically, within the framework of international legislation.”

Gamarra holds Sánchez responsible for what happened, "who should immediately disavow and dismiss any member of his Government" who with his statements "leads us towards a diplomatic conflict like the one we are experiencing."

Furthermore, he reproached the acting president for “having been able, in these five years, to squander the credit in international politics and foreign policy that Spain has always had,” and that is what the acting president of the Government should worry about.

The popular ones advocate that Sánchez “bring order” to his Government, so that events like Monday's are not repeated, since “what interests us least now is a diplomatic conflict.”

The leader of the party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, expressed himself with a somewhat more restrained tone, demanding that Sánchez “bring order” to his Government yesterday, although he also criticized the statement from the Israeli embassy.

For the leader of the popular parties, when a country "is in shock like Israel is" the worst thing that can be done is "enter into diplomatic conflict with that country", and although he believes that the statement from the Israeli embassy in Spain “I could be a little more accurate.” Another thing, he added, is that “the mess that the Government has and the rupture in international politics that is already a classic” of recent Spanish diplomacy.

In the opinion of the president of the PP, “when a country has a conflict and when a country is attacked by a terrorist organization, there is no room for equidistance,” which is why he regrets the “diplomatic problem with Israel.” Feijóo attributes the dissonances in the central Executive coalition to the fact that Sánchez “needs the votes of Sumar and Podemos, which are decisive for him to remain president of the Government.” Of course, he warns that what loses is "Spain's international prestige" and "Spain's prominence in the international community."

“That is to say, we Spaniards lose because of the political mess that remains in the Government in a notorious way, and now and also, in a rude way,” he concluded.

The leader of the PP made these considerations yesterday after a conference at the Metafuturo forum, organized by Atresmedia. Feijóo addressed the issue in response to journalists at the conclusion of the event, in which he spoke about some of his economic proposals, such as lowering taxes, and other issues such as amnesty and self-determination.
