The Police and the FBI search the yacht of a Russian oligarch immobilized in Tarragona

Agents of the National Police and the FBI have registered this Monday a yacht that has been immobilized in the port of Tarragona since March 2022 and whose owner is apparently the Russian oligarch Igor Ivanovich Sechin, a friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

This is the Crescent, a 135-meter-long yacht with the flag of the Cayman Islands, which was immobilized by Decision of the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine and has been detained in the port of Tarragona for more than a year after verifying that belonged to a person or entity sanctioned by the European Council following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

National Police sources quoted by Diari de Tarragona have indicated that the search lasted about five hours and that its objective is to "gather information".

The sources have ruled out that there are any arrests and have reported that it is only an entry to collect data from the yacht, which will remain immobilized.

In April 2022, the Civil Guard and the National Police already registered the yacht at a request from the US authorities.
