The grassroots of Podemos have endorsed the affirmative vote of its five deputies included in the group of Sumar to "exclusively" the investiture of Pedro Sánchez with 86.1% (47,675) of the votes, as announced by the formation led by Ione Belarra , who in a video in which he called the consultation stated that this election should be supported.
In the consultation with the Podemos bases, which began on November 11 at 10:00 a.m. and concluded yesterday at 10:00 p.m., 55,372 registered participants participated, of which 7,586, 13.7%, have chosen to vote no to the investiture of the general secretary of the PSOE.
The results were announced just two hours before the investiture debate began in the Congress of Deputies, for which Pedro Sánchez is assured of re-election in the first vote with an absolute majority (179 seats).
If the five Podemos deputies had opted to abstain, Sánchez could have been re-elected by a simple majority in the second vote, something that would not have happened if the purple ones had opted for no.
Belarra, despite asking for Sánchez's support, in her video, accused the PSOE of being "irresponsible" for being "disdaining" Podemos, its proposals and its eventual participation in the Government.
In this way, the discomfort in Podemos towards Sumar and the PSOE has not had an impact when deciding the affirmative vote for Sánchez, despite the fact that the party has distanced itself from the coalition agreement between socialists and Sumar and despite the fact that the prospects are that its main references remain outside the Executive as sources from the coalition said yesterday.
