The perfect summer tastes like sushi and a glass of Vallformosa Gala Rosé on the Costa Brava

The first vineyards near Masia La Sala, in Vilobí del Penedès (Barcelona), began to be cultivated 150 years ago. A few years later, phylloxera devastated the area and all the vines had to be replanted, meaning that the start of the Vallformosa winery was not exactly rosy. That is why no one could foresee what would happen more than a century later: that they would end up making a sparkling... rosé.

“Why not?” those first winegrowers would ask themselves, resilient, smart and hard-working people who knew how to see the future of the Penedès vineyards. The new Vallformosa Gala Rosé could be said to be a sparkling tribute to all of them, made exclusively with Pinot Noir. "Rosa, of course," they would say.

But is it really pink? Rather pale pink in color, but with bright tones that show her youth. It gives off an elegant aroma of red fruits, which are mixed with some floral and citrus notes. Then, lightly, the notes of fine pastry stand out. According to the tasters, it has good volume, it is sweet, soft, cheerful and fresh.

Like the rest of the references in the Gala de Vallformosa range, the Gala Rosé is presented in a unique and patented bottle that enhances its sophistication and elegance.

Due to all these characteristics, the Vallformosa Gala Rosé is especially recommended to be enjoyed during an aperitif and it pairs perfectly with Asian cuisine. In fact, it has a very evident affinity with Japanese cuisine, where the salinity and fatty structure of the fish play a role, as well as the contrast of flavors and textures.

So love was sung and Gala Brut Rosé will become the leading drink at gastronomic events from June to September at Far Nomo (Llafranc) and Nomo Nàutic (Sant Feliu de Guíxols), pairing the most select proposals served in the iconic pompadou cup.

The Nomo Group is the great selection for such a unique occasion as the presentation of the new reference from Vallformosa. Its Japanese cuisine with Mediterranean touches will become the perfect pairing for the Vallformosa Gala Rosé.

Today, Vallformosa does not have its own estate or vineyard, but it works with more than 400 winegrowing families, heirs to those who suffered from the phylloxera plague and knew how to start anew by replanting the vineyard.

Now they work the land pampering the vine in a sustainable way, making sure to minimize the carbon footprint, with the support and help of the winery's technical team to obtain quality wines and sparkling wines. Among them, the Gala range, from which now, a century and a half after its inception, they are launching their first rosé, the Gala Brut Rosé.

They say that history does not repeat itself, but rather rhymes. And, sometimes, in addition, it offers us sparkling winks.
