The parents of a two-year-old boy who tested positive for cocaine and ketamine in Ibiza are arrested

Agents of the National Police in Ibiza have arrested the parents of a minor, barely two years old, after medical services detected that the child had tested positive for cocaine and ketamine. The parents, aged 31 and 27, have been detained as alleged perpetrators of a crime of abuse in the family.

The facts were discovered last Friday, when the Police received a notice from the medical services of the Can Misses Hospital in Eivissa. Some parents had taken a minor to the center because he had severe abdominal pain, which turned out to be appendicitis. However, the hospital services decided to carry out a series of complementary analyzes to verify his general situation.

The parents had told the doctors that they were habitual drug users and the hospital health workers considered it appropriate to do a series of tests on the minor in order to rule out any other possibility. The analyzes confirmed that the two-year-old boy had traces of cocaine and ketamine in his system.

Once the results were confirmed, the Hospital's Child Protection Service immediately called the Police to report the discovery. The UFAM Judicial Police Group took charge of the investigation and the parents were immediately arrested and brought to justice.

In parallel, to guarantee the safety of the child, custody of the minor was immediately removed from his parents as a protective measure. The child has been admitted to a shelter to preserve his health and integrity.
