The Government's spokesperson minister, Pilar Alegría, who today took on this responsibility for the first time, replacing Isabel Rodríguez, wished “the best” to the Podemos ministers, Irene Montero and Ione Belarra, who yesterday, in the transfer of portfolios, accused Pedro Sánchez for having fired them from the executive.
Alegría responded in this way to a question from a journalist at the Council of Ministers press conference about whether those statements by the two former ministers had been “elegant.” The spokesperson avoided any criticism and limited herself to expressing her desire for goodwill after recognizing her work in recent years.
The Government met yesterday for the first time after its constitution and the first measure was to promote the decree for the preparation of the budgets as well as the appointment and dismissal of positions of the teams of the ministries whose names will be known throughout the day.
Alegría has precisely defended the composition of the new Government in the face of criticism from the PP which, in his opinion, only responds to the sole objective of "for Pedro Sánchez to stop being President of the Government."
In his opening words, Alegría has emphasized "the determination of the entire Government to deploy its agenda with a clear objective: to improve the lives of Spaniards. This government governs for all citizens, all Spaniards."
Among the priorities set by the minister she noted "improving the purchasing power of workers, improving the state of well-being and access to housing."
In question time, Alegría avoided answering the question of whether the Government maintains confidence in the State Attorney General after the Supreme Court's disapproval of the appointment of Dolores Delgado; the minister spokesperson limited herself to reiterating the "scrupulous respect" for judicial decisions.
