The mysterious charm of Croscat in the fog

In La Vanguardia Readers' Photos today we can discover the mysterious charm of Croscat among the fog, on a splendid day to explore this volcano.

We are located in the Natural Park of the Volcanic Zone of La Garrotxa. Of the existing volcanoes, which are 40, Croscat is considered the youngest.

It erupted about 11,500 years ago. This volcano is inactive and the risk of it erupting again is very unlikely.

Because the clay (used for tennis courts and bricks) was extracted for many years, a pit 100 meters high and 500 meters long was opened in the volcano.

The original colors were darker from black to gray, but due to an oxidation process they later adopted reddish and orange tones.
