The government team of the Paeria de Cervera, (Lleida) formed by the PSC and Junts has offered the opposition groups Solucions i Futur (SiF) and ERC a pact to work together in the preparation of the 2024 budgets.
On December 27, the mayor, Jan Pomés, received the technical budget proposal that anticipated a negative difference of 2.3 million euros between expenses and income.
After examining all the items with the municipal technicians, he assures that the expense was reduced to 1.3 million.
The difference between the expected income for this year (12 million) and expenses (13 million) continued to be negative. Pomés wants to hire an external service to carry out a sanitation plan and an audit.
The priority for the mayor of Cervera is to clean up the municipal accounts in a period of between 1 and 2 years.
Since January 1, non-essential expenses are not allowed at the City Council, except for social policies. It is one of the decisions taken to reverse the situation. A hiring plan has also begun to be implemented with the aim of reducing expenses on cleaning and supplies, among others, while bringing the Paeria's hiring up to date in terms of current regulations.
According to Pomés, the outstanding debt of the Paeria de Cervera is 4.2 million euros and the forecast is to reduce it to 3.6 million and keep it stable and sustainable to allow for investment in improvements in the municipality.
