This Thursday, at the Madrid Auditorium, the Kings presided over the In memoriam concert in tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, which has been celebrated for twenty-two years and which, since 2005, has been held to coincide with the anniversary of 11-11. M, date marked in red by the attacks perpetrated in Madrid on March 11, 2004, in which 193 people died, and two thousand more were injured.
The concert, organized by the Victims of Terrorism Foundation, was attended by the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, and representatives of State institutions, as well as heads of the various associations, integrated into the Foundation, that bring together victims of terrorism and their families. of the deceased.
The entrance of the Kings to the auditorium was accompanied by the interpretation of the national anthem and before the start of the concert, Juan Francisco Benito, president of the Victims of Terrorism Foundation and father of Rodolfo Benito, who died in the 11-M attacks, has remembered all the victims whom he described as "heroes of our democracy" and, forcefully, stated that "for the defense of their memory, their dignity and the justice that we owe them and, above all, the truth "We will never accept the legitimization of any form of terrorism."
On this occasion the RTVE Symphony Orchestra and Choir, with Marc Korovitch as director, have performed Elegía, by Eduardo Soutullo, a work composed and dedicated to the victims of terrorism. The score, for orchestra and choir, has a text from the novel Patria, by Fernando Aramburu, on which the musical development is built.
The concert is organized by the Victims of Terrorism Foundation, and sponsored by the RTVE Symphony Orchestra and Choir, the National Music Auditorium, the INAEM, the Montemadrid Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and the Madrid City Council.
The objective of the Victims of Terrorism Foundation is to promote and disseminate democratic values, the defense of human rights, plurality and freedom of citizens and, at the same time, be a useful vehicle for consultation for a better understanding of the situation. of the group of victims of terrorism in Spain.
