The influx of arctic spring smoke

In The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we can see the steaming Ter as if it were a cup of hot coffee as it passes through Manlleu (Osona).

With the contrast in temperatures between the water and the outside, when the sun rises the water smokes and produces that smoke, known as "arctic smoke".

Spring nights are cool and, when it is daylight, with a clear sky this helps to form this steaming water.

The Ter river rises in Ulldeter at 2,480 meters of altitude, at the foot of a glacial cirque in the Pyrenean region of Ripollès, very close to the town of Setcases.

Manlleu, in the Osona region, is crossed by the River Ter, on whose left bank is most of the town.

In Passeig del Ter you can see the channel, very important in the history of Manlleu. And it is that the industrialization of the municipality, which took place in the mid-nineteenth century, contributed significantly to the construction of the industrial canal, which served as a source of energy for the textile factories that began to be installed.
