According to National Police sources, the investigation began after an elderly woman reported that she had been scammed in the city of Cádiz, where jewelry and 30,000 euros in cash were stolen from her using a variation of the traditional "tocomocho" method, which It consists of approaching a person to exchange a supposed winning lottery ticket that they cannot collect for a sum of money less than the prize.

The complainant was approached on the street and invited to accompany the detainees to her home and once in the vehicle, one of the detainees who was posing as a person with a mental disability showed her a bag with a large amount of cash and told her They stated that they had been awarded in the lottery.

An investigation began that found the whereabouts of the scammers, who were staying in a campsite in Benidorm, where they tried to hide with other people's identity documents and parking the vehicle they used during their scams at a great distance from the facilities. .

During the intervention, the agents found in two caravans a wide variety of jewelry and watches, 1,790 euros in cash and the stolen documents of other people that they used to register, for which they were arrested for the alleged crimes of fraud, usurpation of civil status and criminal organization before being brought before the courts.
